    This is too a large degree, wrong. First, CLEC status means nothing as a
    survival ability enhancement The DSL broadband highway is covered with
    CLEC bodies. The DSL ClEC started by AMeritech has its own CLEC papers. By
    doing this AMeritech/SBC can let it go broke if it does not do its
    numbers.

    History of the last year has illustrated to us that you are likely to get
    better
    inside information about the upstream DSL CLEC from an ISP that partners
    with that CLEC. Plus that ISP will try to get you moved to another CLEC
    before the CLEC goes broke. What do you think the odds that Northpoint
    would have helped you move your DSL to another CLEC, prior to them
    shutting down? I recall a number of local ISP/resellers offering this.
