           Also, it's a very bad idea to think about intellectual property
           for two reasons: First, it prejudges the most fundamental
           question in the area which is: How should these things be
           treated and should they be treated as a kind of property? To
           use the term "intellectual property" to describe the area is to
           presuppose the answer is "yes," that that's the way to treat
           things, not some other way.

           Second, it encourages over-generalization. Intellectual
           property is a catch-all for several different legal systems with
           independent origins such as, copyrights, patents, trademarks,
           trade secrets and some other things as well. They are almost
           completely different; they have nothing in common.

    No wonder Ballmer is so confused about IP!
